Nestled on the western coast of the holy river Ganga, Varanasi is the oldest and most spiritual city in India. It bears the ancient civilization of India since ancient times. It is a place of faith, spirituality, worship devotion and sacrifice. It is home to a number of temples around and in the city. A timeless draw of this city is the river front that can be witnessed through a boat.
Later sightseeing of Varanasi (the oldest and holiest city of India) including a morning boat cruise that glides over the river Ganges to explore the rustic sights of pilgrims bythe Ghats.
Temples like Bharatmata temple:
Situated at Kashi Vidyapeeth Campus, Bharat Mata Temple is India’s oldest and spiritual destination dedicated to Mother India. Built in 1936, this scared place was constructed by Babu Shiv Prasad Gupt, a true devotee of Mahatma Gandhi. This beautiful marble building was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi. This temple abounds with natural beauty overlooking the Ganges and holy Ghats. The style of designing was influenced as pentagonal cone with five pillars, supporting the structure.
Aurangzeb’s Mosque:
Located at an extension of the Ganges River at the Panchganga Ghat, Aurangzeb’s Mosque lies in the Northern state of Uttar Pradesh. Also referred as Beni Madhav Ka Darera, this mosque is a must-see tourist destination in Varanasi. The Alamgir Mosque is another majestic holy destination of Varanasi, sporting a great amalgamation of Hindu and Mughal art and architecture. Sited on the site of the Vishnu Temple, this spectacular mosque is an excellent architecture, reflecting smooth intimacy of Hindu and Muslim region.
Banaras Hindu University:
Founded in the year 1916 by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, Banaras Hindu University is India’s biggest study centre that has got internationally recognition. It is located in the heart of the Varanasi city. The credit of its construction also goes to Dr Annie Besant. History researchers said that this university has contributed a major role in the Indian independence movement. Over the passage of time, it has become a centre of learning. A large number of prominent researchers, artists and scientists have also contributed in Indian freedom. There are about 15000 students, 2000 teachers and 5000 non-teaching staff in this university irrespective to social groups, religion and races.
Excursion to Sarnath:
Facing to the east at a distance of 10 kms, Sarnath is the major Buddhism’s centreof India. After having absolute learning, the Buddha came to Sarnath where he awaked people by giving his first lecture in the deer park and the museum.
On the Ghat, the view of sun setting is truly alluring and you can also see the ritual of ‘Aarti’ at the banks of Ghats. This ceremony is performed by enormously experienced Hindu priests. The soul of devotees will be touched with the sounds of prayers and bells that make this place an important scared destination.
