The USS Bowfin Submarine & Park is one of the Pearl Harbor Historic Site partners and is located immediately adjacent to the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center and offers two distinct tours. The USS Bowfin (SS-287) was launched December 7th, 1942, exactly one year after the attack on Pearl Harbor, earning her the nickname “The Pearl Harbor Avenger.” USS Bowfin sank 44 ships on 9 war patrols and became one of the most decorated submarines of WWII.

Your first tour is a self-guided tour through the USS Bowfin Submarine.

Your next tour is in their Submarine Museum for their incredible tour on the “History of Undersea Warfare”; from the first submarines ever built prior to WWI, through WWII, to the modern nuclear submarines of today.

Inclusion

Admission includes free self-guided audio tours for both USS Bowfin and their museum.

Audio tours are available in English, Japanese, Mandarin, Korean, Spanish, French and German.

Exclusion

Transportation to and from Pearl Harbor.

Hours of operation

USS Bowfin is open daily from 7:00am - 5:00pm. Note that the last admission to board the submarine is at 4:30pm. (closed on Thanksgiving day, Christmas day and New Year’s day).

Please allow approximately 1 hour for the USS Bowfin's two tours.

USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park is located within the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, at 11 Arizona Memorial Drive, Honolulu 96818.

Additional Information

Parking at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center is free. Lots are located in front of the main entrance.

Participant restrictions

Children under 4 are not permitted on the submarine for safety reasons, however they may visit the museum at no charge.

USS Bowfin is not handicap accessible.

Policies

Cancellation: Unredeemed vouchers are fully refundable.

For security reasons, no purses, backpacks, fanny packs, diaper bags, large camera cases or luggage is allowed at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. Valuables should not be left in your vehicle. Bag storage is available at the entrance for a fee of $3 per bag. We recommend that visitors bring in their wallets, ID, water, cameras and cellphones.
