Highlights / General details
Punta Arenas is history, everywhere in this city we find something that make us remember the adventures and experiences that pioneers lived. They were the first permanent civilized humans of southern Patagonia. On December 18, 1848, they settled as a colony, but later on, in a couple of years, they became the most important cultural, commercial and cattle-raising center for Patagonia.
A panoramic view of the city and the Strait of Magellan, a tour through the well-built avenues and attractive squares, where more than 30 different monuments are found; also a fascinating visit to the Salesian Museum, where tourist may find a magnificent collection of the regional flora and fauna, exclusive relics of handicraft and folklore of the native Indian tribes, such as Yaganes, Onas and Alacalufes. All these cultural attractions will allow tourists to acquire a complete knowledge of the city and its inhabitants.
