An oasis located in the middle of the driest desert in the world, Atacama Desert. An exploration to the Cordillera de la Sal (Salt Mountain Range) takes place, with magnificent geological formations and sediments of various colors. The origin of the Cordillera de la Sal corresponds to the origin of the Atacama Salar; therefore, its rocks are mainly composed of salt and similar clay, creating an extremely special and inspiring landscape, and originating the mystic Moon Valley. Exploration trek through inner valleys, watching caverns and abandoned salt mines, winding dunes and specially, we will enjoy the dusk in the Moon Valley, which is an invitation from nature to silence and to the amazement that Creation produces.

In the evening, one of the most expected moments is the sunset, and the best place to wait for it is the “Cordillera de la Sal” with its valleys, which are called Valle de Marte (Mars Valley) and Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley), both saline and clayed shapes, product of mineralogical folds that occurred hundreds of millions years ago, originating little mountains with strange and capricious shapes, that sunset turns them into a moon landscape scene. To celebrate this natural spectacle, Rutas Andinas offers a cocktail and a wine tasting.
