It has an extension of 637,600 hectares/6,576 km2 and height variation from 3,300 m/11,000 ft to 300 m/1,000 ft. Amboro is in the area called “Elbow of the Andes”, a subandean region, where the range changes its direction towards south. It’s typically mountains with big depressions and drops of altitude in different levels. The southern part has topography of low hills and it bellows to the humid rainforest or Yungas.

Itinerary
Day 1: Santa Cruz – Samaipata – El Fuerte ruins.
Departure from Santa Cruz to Samaipata (120 km – 2 ½ hours), a trip with a view of great sub-Andean beauty, arriving at the “El Fuerte” Ruins, the largest example of pre-Hispanic rock architecture in South America. Arrival at Samaipata, registration at the hotel. Visit a museum and tour of the town. Overnight: El Pueblito resort. (Includes: Lunch, Dinner)
Day 2: La Yunga (Half day) – Santa Cruz.
Breakfast in town and departure to La Yunga, 30 km from Samaipata. Hike approximately one-and-a-half hour through the giant fern forest. Return to Samaipata for lunch, and then return to Santa Cruz with a short stop at the waterfalls at Las Cuevas. (Includes: Breakfast, Lunch)
