Harlem has been called the cultural capital of Black America. It is the home to the Harlem Renaissance, literary, political and cultural giants like Langston Hughes, Madame C.J. Walker, Malcolm X and W.E.B Dubois. This tour tells the stories of the pioneers and the visionaries that made Harlem great from its early Dutch settlers to the leaders of civil rights movement. It also explores the forces that are shaping modern Harlem including gentrification.

The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture;
