Highlights / General details
We will visit small rural settlements that are responsible for the confection of the famous doll without a face. The faceless dolls, a prized craft of the Dominican Republic, have become a symbol of culture and Dominican art.
Fruit of the turbulent history and of the Taíno fusion with invaders established on the island, conquerors first and black slaves later - the lack of face reflects the racial syncretism of Dominican women. This way, one can assume it is a mulatto, cinnamon, black sorghum or with European traits or trigueña (olive-skinned) or as the imagination inspires each and every one and at every moment.
At the same time we will look at the impressive cities of Bonao and Moca, the cradle of great craftsmen and whose cultural wealth comes to give a more complete idea of our complex customs.
