Rome in ancient times was full in diversity of cultures, customs and language that every individual shaped folk in the city neighborhoods and the spirit of the city itself. The journey will begin in the Campo dei Fiori with the famous statue of Giordano Bruno and surrounding streets that formerly were trade centers which nourished the most diverse crafts such as chain factories, umbrella making, tannery etc. There is an essential Jewish ghetto full of the most diverse legends and historically important place for the formation of the Roman folklore.
Leaving the Ghetto we will go across the Isola Tiberina "Roman Isles" known for the Asclepius temple, which had a role for centuries as Basilica Saint Bartholome. Journey will continue through the heart of Trastevere, the bohemian neighborhood, and by the house of Dante Alighieri, medieval poet, creator of the Divine Comedy. Then, walk through the central square of a church Santa Maria Trastevere known for the beautiful gold mosaics, and hear about it’s history and tradition. Trastevere was colonized by travelers, sailors as well as traders from all over the world, who stayed longer or shorter time, so this neighborhood created subculture formed by mixing all the traditions, language and cuisine.
Still today this unique spirit of the neighborhood can be felt in it’s streets and squares. We will take a walk back into the times of the medieval symbol "Comedia del arte" which emerged in mid 1500. The characters such as Harlequin, Colombio, Pulcinela, Trousers, characters which typically wore a mask as also typical roman characters such as ,and finish our journey in Piazza Trilussa, where will visit Carlo Alberto Salustri, or more known as Trilussa, Romanesque most famous poet. Roman spirit can be felt through out this journey through the city from pre - Roman age, Late Republic, Imperial than Middle Ages, renaissance and till modern time
