Highlights / General details
Francisco Brennand, the celebrated sculptor, ceramicist and painter, reinvented his father's brickworks to create a unique range of decorative ceramic tiles, whilst transforming a huge area into a studio within a lush forest reservation. Influenced by artists like Picasso, Miró and Gaudí, Brennand's has created his own exotic world through a vast collection of unusual sculptures. The tour continues to the Ricardo Brennand Institute, built by entrepreneur and art collector Ricardo Brennand. Voted best museum in South America and 17th in the 2014 world list by Trip Advisor's Traveler's Choice, the Institute is set in opulent grounds with fine sculptures. Complemented by a library and an extraordinary Arms Museum, the Art Gallery specialized in Dutch Brazil has the largest collection of Frans Post paintings in the world, as well as works by Debret, Taunay and Rugendas.
