Highlights / General details
With more than 10 million gallons of fresh and marine water and more aquatic life than found in any other aquarium, you are sure to see things you've never seen before! The Georgia Aquarium promises wonder and excitement around every corner.
This section will allow you to explore our different galleries and areas so that you can plan your visit. With so much to see and do, you'll want to come back again and again.
Ocean Voyager - Our Ocean Voyager gallery, built by the Home Depot, contains 6.3 million gallons of salt water and is home to four whale sharks, four manta rays, and thousands of other fascinating fish. Ocean Voyager features an acrylic tunnel for guests to view our incredible marine life on all sides, and a giant acrylic viewing window to explore our world oceans like never before.
River Scout - Discover a wide diversity of animals found in the rivers of Africa, South America, Asia and even Georgia. Piranha, Asian small-clawed otters and American alligators illustrate what lives in fresh waters. All of these animals, and more, are presented in a themed environment of waterfalls, logjams and a simulated meandering North American river that flows over your head! Around the corner, kids can safely "enter" an area filled with piranha and get a close-up look at the razor sharp teeth of these voracious predators.
Cold Water Quest - Beluga whales and more give you a glimpse of the rich variety of life found in cold ocean waters. Penguins, southern sea otters and touch pools bring this gallery to life.
Tropical Diver - Living corals and thousands of colorful reef fish present a faithful recreation of a tropical Pacific coral reef, while jellies arrange themselves like a gallery of living art.
SunTrust Pier 225 - Georgia Aquarium’s newest gallery featuring the charismatic California sea lion! In our Under the Boardwalk sea lion presentation, guests are virtually transported to the coast of California for a close-up look at this incredible species. Guests will have a chance to see the sea lions of Georgia Aquarium in an intimate setting, watch their behaviors and learn more about these amazing marine mammals and their habitat.
AT&T Dolphin Tales - This gallery features the amazing bottlenose dolphin! Here you’ll have a chance to see these magnificent creatures in action, take part in a live training demonstration and learn more about these remarkable animals and how Georgia Aquarium works to preserve this extraordinary species. Showtimes vary daily.
Aquanaut Adventure: A Discovery Zone - This new addition invites guests of all ages to embark on an exciting, educational journey through the Aquarium’s upper levels while completing a series of entertaining challenges. Participants also have the chance to become a certified Georgia Aquarium Aquanaut, or Aquarium Scientist, after completing their journey!
