Full Day Ilha do Mel by Train

At 7:30am, transfer to the railway station and set off by train for the small town of Morretes. This is one of the world’s most impressive rail trips, passing through the luscious tropical vegetation of the Atlantic Rainforest, and crossing numerous breathtaking bridges. In Morretes your guide will be waiting to take you by vehicle on to Pontal do Sul, where you catch a boat across to Ilha do Mel.

On the island you can swim or visit the cave at Encantadas, or visit either the lighthouse or the fortress at Brasília. A packed lunch is provided. In the afternoon there’s plenty of time to swim or go for a hike, before catching the boat back to Ponta do Sul, eventually reaching Curitiba around 8:00pm.

For the rail journey you can choose the following classes of travel:

Wagon Turístico: Economy class carriage with on-board service of soft drinks and snacks, plus a Portuguese-speaking local guide. Note: several of these carriages have acrylic windows, so visibility is not so good as in Executivo class.

Wagon Executivo: Executive class carriage with panoramic glass windows and a bilingual guide (Portuguese/English-speaking); mineral water, soft drinks, beer and snacks are included. Note: this class of travel is subject to final confirmation – there must be at least 10 paying passengers travelling on the day before the railway company will confirm its use.
