Highlights / General details
Looking at the ground level of Rome it is hard to imagine that you can find just as many treasures underneath it, and yet what exists in these secret passages will astonish you. With this private tour you will learn about the meaning behind them and enter the most amazing experience this city can offer. Your tour will start with the Cappucine Monk bone Crypt, a treasure unknown to most visitors, decorated with thousands of human bones. Following this, you will board an air-conditioned van going towards the Catacombs of St. Callixtus. These Catacombs are the biggest of over 60 catacombs in Rome, boasting dozens of Saints and Martyrs tombs and even 16 papal tombs. For the number of popes and saints buried within these walls of the 2nd century they jokingly call the catacombs of St. Callixtus‘ little Vatican. The trip concludes with a drive to the Basilica di San Clemente for an exploration of it’s three levels also including a visit of a 1st century roman senators house.
