Every year, millions of visitors from around the world walk through the gate bearing a fallacious inscription: Arbeit macht frei, "Work sets one free". Defeating the same route as prisoners for over half a century ago. The programme of the visit comprises the introduction to the origins of the camp, its history and the everyday life of its prisoners. The Auschwitz-Birkenau complex was established in 1940 and throughout the five years of its inglorious operation over 1.5 million Jews, Poles, Italians and Frenchman perished here. It should be emphasized that the prisoners of Auschwitz originated from every country in Europe. The museum was founded in 1947, combining the area of KL Auschwitz (Auschwitz I) in Oswiecim and the Birkenau camp (Auschwitz II) in Brzezinka; it comprises approximately 150 buildings and 300 ruins. The original roads, fences, watchtowers and railway ramps have been preserved. The buildings house the collection of original exhibits and documents. In 1979, the concentration camp was designated as one of the UNESCO's World Heritage Sites.

After your guided tour of Auschwitz you will return to Krakow by coach.

English Morning departs daily at 6:55am April-October except August, 7:10am November-December and March, 7:25am January-February.

English Midday departs daily at 11:45am April-May and October, 1:00pm June-August, 12:45pm in September, 10:45am in November and March, 9:45am in December, 10:15am January-February.

English Afternoon departs daily at 1:45pm July-August.

Spanish Tours departs at 1:00pm Monday, Wednesday and Sunday in June, Saturday in July, daily in August, daily at 12:45pm in September, daily at 11:45am in October, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 10:45am in November and March, 9:45am in December, 10:15am in February, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 10:15am in January.

German tours on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday in April, May, July and October-March, Monday, Tuesday and Saturday in June, Friday in August, Wednesday and Friday in September, departing at 6:55am from April to October, 7:10am in November, December and March, at 7:25am from January-February.

Eating and smoking, as well as taking photographs inside the buildings and acting in a loud manner are forbidden at the site.
